The Guest Who Sends Guests: How an airline station manager found a trusted partner in Amari Don Muang Airport Bangkok

For most travellers, Amari Don Muang Airport Bangkok is simply a place to rest before or after a flight. For Mr Nattharit Bhawangkaboonyanon, however, it is much more.

It is a trusted partner in helping hundreds of passengers find comfort when their journeys do not go as planned.

As Thai Lion Air’s Don Muang International Station Manager and Chairman of the Airline Operators Committee Don Muang (AOC DMK), he manages a fast-moving environment filled with tight schedules and unexpected changes.

“I may not be the kind of guest who stays often,” he says with a smile, “but Amari is where I send my passengers, and where I know they’ll be well taken care of.”

His connection with the hotel began years ago, while working in airline catering. At the time, he often needed to arrange food and special requests at short notice.

“Once, a passenger wanted a cake to surprise his wife on board,” he recalls. “I remembered there was a café at Amari, so I crossed the skywalk to buy a nice cake for him. It was so convenient.”

Later, Amari became meaningful on a personal level. When his father and younger brother visited from another province, they stayed at the hotel. “My brother is usually restless in hotels,” he says. “But here, he was calm and comfortable. My father was happy too. That meant a lot to me.”

In his work, reliability is essential. “When a flight is delayed, you may have 180 tired passengers who need rooms immediately,” he explains. “With Amari, we can walk them across the sky bridge. No stress, no complications.”

Even late at night, the hotel team responds quickly, helping him manage difficult situations smoothly.

That trust makes a real difference. “When passengers arrive upset, everything can escalate,” he says. “But once they reach Amari, the atmosphere changes. They’re welcomed warmly, and things feel under control again.”

Beyond convenience, the hotel offers peace of mind. “When I send passengers here, I don’t worry about complaints,” he says. “Most people know Amari and prefer it.” As a coordinator between airlines and the hotel, he also shares important updates. “If Amari needed to close for renovation, I spread the word so other airlines knew not to send passengers. It was teamwork.”

For Mr Nattharit, Amari Don Muang Airport Bangkok represents trust built over time. “Whenever I send my passengers here, I know they’ll be well cared for,” he says. “That confidence means everything.”
