A Pearl in the Making

From a shy intern from Nakhon Sawan to a trusted Amari Host, Kaimook discovered that hospitality, like a pearl, is shaped by patience, resilience and care.

Kanjana Kaewkanha, known to guests simply as Kaimook, meaning pearl, carries a name that feels perfectly matched to her journey. A pearl forms slowly, through pressure, patience and unexpected beauty. And that is precisely how her story at Amari Hua Hin shines.

Her love of caring started early. As a child, she adored cats and watched over them with quiet devotion. Years later, she left her hometown in Nakhon Sawan, 600 kilometres away, to begin an internship at Amari Hua Hin.

What felt at first like a migration soon became a calling. She watched her university senior grow from intern to Guest Service Agent to Amari Host, and she dared to imagine the same path.

“I felt that Amari is the place that can offer growth,” she says simply.

During her internship, she discovered a world she never knew existed, greeting guests from all over the globe, helping them settle in and learning their stories.

“Every day felt like a new world,” she recalls.

But when she became a full-time employee, the stakes grew higher. Complaints and compliments carried more weight.

One handwritten card from a grateful guest, praising the way she handled a difficult room issue, became a treasured reminder that she was on the right path.

As she grew, so did her responsibilities. She worked at the Club Lounge during its brief opening, mixing drinks and welcoming VIP guests, before returning to the front desk. Within a year, she was promoted to Amari Host, a role she fulfils with quiet pride.

What touched her most was when a regular guest appeared at the reception desk with a birthday cake and gift for her.

“The tears ran down my face,” she says. “I didn’t expect a guest to care for me like that.”

Moments like these fuel her desire to go the extra mile, arranging a surprise cake for a guest’s wife or having the kitchen prepare kanom krok for an elderly regular who missed the taste.

Yet her greatest transformation is personal. An introvert who once struggled to smile and who battled depression after losing her father, she now finds strength in connection.

“This job widened my world,” she says. “At Amari, our hospitality is endless. And guests can really feel it.”

Like a pearl, Kaimook has emerged, shaped by resilience, polished by compassion and shining quietly at the heart of Amari Hua Hin.
