Devoted to integrating a ‘no boundaries’ lifestyle into an amazing resort setting, Shama Yalong Bay Sanya is set to welcome its first guests in February 2021
Shanghai, 17 December 2020 — ONYX Hospitality Group, one of the region’s leading hotel management companies, has signed a management agreement with Hainan Sunup Group Investment Co. Ltd., (Hainan Xinhua Group Investment Co.Ltd.,) bringing to life the first-ever Shama resort – Shama Yalong Bay Sanya. This will not only be the newest flagship of Shama, but also a signature landmark for Sanya – a well-loved holiday destination in Hainan, China.
Known by many as the most beautiful beach in China, the tropical Yalong Bay is located in the eastern suburbs of Sanya, the southernmost point of Hainan. With the country’s unique natural resources and offering five key tourism attributes – ocean, beach, sunshine, greenery and fresh air – this state-level tourist resort destination is perfect for holidays all year round.
Scheduled to open in February 2021, Shama Yalong Bay Sanya is situated on the coastal area of the Yalong Bay Tourist Resort District and just a short distance from the beach, offering picturesque views of the ocean, lake and lush green hills. With 285 guestrooms and suites all featuring a fully-equipped kitchen, the resort also offers an all-day dining restaurant, flexible guest meeting and relaxation space, a fitness centre and an outdoor swimming pool. Shama Yalong Bay Sanya perfectly combines modern elegant design and warmth and comfort, and is slated to become the perfect accommodation for leisure and business travellers visiting Sanya – affectionately known as the “Hawaii of China”.
As an award-winning brand by ONYX Hospitality Group, Shama is a leading provider of premium serviced apartments that epitomise comfort, style and luxury, and aims at bringing guests an aspirational “no boundaries” lifestyle that unlocks the community and neighbourhood for guests regardless of their stay duration. The all-new Shama Yalong Bay Sanya will be the first resort-style Shama property, extending the well-established brand’s signature unparalleled comfort and services to an amazing holiday destination. Travellers who are familiar with Shama will be delighted to see their favourite elements presented in a coastal resort environment.
“As a leading brand in the serviced apartments industry, Shama has been pioneering the sector for 24 years with its footprint expanding across Hong Kong, mainland China and Thailand. We have been committed to cultivating the China market and look forward to entering Sanya in early 2021. The differentiated, community-focused offerings of Shama have worked well in urban locations and we are excited to take everything we do best into a highly-appealing resort destination,” said Douglas Martell, President & CEO, ONYX Hospitality Group. “It is our great honour to partner with Sunup Group in bringing our Shama offering to the next level.”
Zenghui Sun, Executive Vice President, Hainan Sunup Group Investment Co. Ltd., said, “Established almost three decades ago and with a strong base in Hainan, Hainan Sunup Group has emerged into a diversified corporation that integrates three core businesses: urban renewal and transformation, rural revitalisation and beautification, and operation and integration of cultural tourism. Invested by Sunup Group and managed by the Shama brand that is a part of ONYX Hospitality Group, Shama Yalong Bay Sanya will be an all-new resort-style apartment hotel. With the abundance of local resources, geographical advantages, and the combined international vision and management expertise of ONYX, we are confident that this synergy will make Shama Yalong Bay Sanya a well-known new landmark in Sanya, bringing guests the most extraordinary experience in this resort paradise.”
